SVEA swim season officially began Saturday, May 24, 2014, with the opening of the Harker Pool which will operate, fully staffed with lifeguards, from 11am to 7pm daily through Labor Day. The Harker Center pool generally opens for the Memorial Day weekend with the Village pool opening in mid-June. This swimmer friendly salt-water pool with diving board, sauna, outdoor hot tub, wading pool for children and convenient access to the Harker Park is a perfect place to enjoy an Elkhorn summer day.
The Village Pool is open from Saturday, June 14, 2014 and will remain in operation through September 30, 2014 weather permitting. Open swim hours are noon to 8pm daily. Adult lap swimming is scheduled from 8am to noon Monday through Friday. Children, supervised by a responsible adult, may access the pool at 10am Monday through Friday, however children will be restricted to swimming in a designated roped off area during adult lap swimming hours. There will be no lifeguards on duty at any time. Attendants will be available to check in property owners and guests and issue towels. In addition to the pool, the Village location includes an outdoor hot tub, a steam room and sauna.
During the early summer months the Sun Valley area often experiences severe thunderstorms. For the safety of our owners and guests the association adheres to national safety guidelines and will close the pools anytime there is lightning in the area. This action is, at times, met with frustration by pool users. Your cooperation and understanding during these unavoidable instances is greatly appreciated.
The SVEA Recreation Committee and staff are happy to report that many familiar lifeguards and attendants are returning this year to make your swimming experience the best possible.
